SCIP Teams

SCIP staff members know that, when a young person's behavior changes, the people most likely to recognize something unusual are those who interact regularly with them. That's why SCIP is designed to include their parents, guardians, teachers and other school employees. Our role is to make certain that, when school personnel see behaviors out of the ordinary among their students, they understand what is happening and how to respond.

SCIP Team Training

Each summer SCIP offers a 4-day comprehensive training for school staff members who will serve as active SCIP team members at their schools. The SCIP Intervention Team Training covers many topics, from drugs and alcohol to behavioral and mental health concerns. Whatever the source, such issues can result in classroom behaviors which interfere with a student's ability to learn.

Participants at this annual training learn how to identify, intervene, refer students to community agencies, and be a source of support to students and their families.

Presentations include topics such as:

  • Drug and Alcohol Awareness, including Current Trends, Prevention and Intervention
  • Cultural Competency
  • Domestic Violence
  • Grief
  • Eating Disorders
  • Self-Injury
  • A Panel Discussion of students in recovery plus their parents
  • Gambling

Ordinarily SCIP Intervention Team Training is presented in July. Please contact the SCIP office at (402) 483-4581 ext. 277 with any questions.
